Education Malaysia 2009
EDUCATION MALAYSIA 2009 is an open conference serving as a platform for intellectual discourse on the Malaysian education system. All stakeholders – educators, students, parents, administrators, and the general public – are invited to participate to examine and review the challenges of the present system.
Various speakers will be invited to speak on a wide range of educational issues. The speakers are specially chosen so as to provide views from different perspectives.
It is hoped that the conference will be able to raise awareness and concern on the state of Malaysian education.
UN Special Rapporteur’s Report
On 5-14 February 2007, Vernor Muñoz, the United Nation’s Special Rapporteur* on the right to education, visited Malaysia to assess the country’s state of education rights.
At the end of the mission, a report was produced, covering various educational issues like primary and secondary education, higher education, sociocultural context, and also included several recommendations.
The Special Rapporteur’s report will be used as a basis for discussion during the conference; with the aim of disseminating, examining, and distilling ideas from the recommendations of the report.
